SURF: The north shores will find smaller surf size Monday into Tuesday. The west sides will find small surf Monday into Tuesday as well. The east facing shores will have relatively small surf. The south sides will find small to very small waves breaking through Tuesday.
The north shores - The surf will be small Monday into Tuesday. This new week will start off slow as expected, and then build later Tuesday, as a larger northwest or WNW swell arrives, prompting high surf advisories again…possibly going into the warning levels. Surf will be large Wednesday through Thursday…gradually dropping Friday. A new NW swell will arrive early this coming weekend.
The west shores – These shores will find small surf Monday through most of Tuesday. The same large to very large NW swell will bring the surf back up again late next Tuesday for several days…gradually lowering later Thursday into Friday. The next new NW swell arrives Saturday, which will cause rising surf through the weekend.
The south shores -
These beaches will find small to very small surf breaking through Tuesday. There’s a good chance of better surf coming our way from the southern hemisphere on Tuesday, for a couple of days. Yet another out of season south swell will arrive around Wednesday. The southern hemisphere may remain active enough, that we could see even further wave action as we continue moving through this first half of February.
The east shores
These beaches will have small waves breaking through Tuesday.
Marine Warnings and Advisories: Active watches and warnings
Note:
Wave face readings are approximately twice the surf forecast numbers indicated in the tables above.
I want to thank all of the Hawaii Weather Today surf report team for all those years of reporting on the TV weather show…which is now finished: Ole Olson on Kauai; Kaleo Ohina, Ian Masterson and Kyle Stanford on Oahu; Steven Mark, Mike Napier, Ken Potts and Ron Busby on Maui…and finally David Hume on the Big Island. Thanks to Mr. Pat Caldwell on Oahu for his continuing surf forecast skills. ~~~ Steven Mark and Mike Napier, both continue to send me daily surf reports for Hookipa Beach Park on Maui, and the Kihei area on the south coast.
